Swetswise: the full story

UPDATE: We are attempting to move over to EZProxy access, which means that it would be easier for you to access databases from home. We're not quite there yet - more details to follow.


So, you're at home, perhaps using Firefox as your browser for accessing UW resources. (Mainly because we tell you that's what you have to do, particularly if you are blessed with Vista!) You log in, go to Resources Online or the A-Z list, and need to access Swetswise. But how do you get the thing to work?

On campus: click 'IP Authentication' (top right). Should go straight to journal (from A-Z list) or search screen (from E-Resources)

Off campus: click 'Athens login' (top right). You should go to a search screen. If you are still prompted for your Athens account details:

• Click 'Alternative login'

• Search for: Worcester

• Click the link: University of Worcester

• Make sure the box to 'remember this login page' is ticked - this creates a cookie which means that when you access Swetswise next time, and click the Athens login link you should go straight through. Then click the link: 'Go to the University of Worcester login page'

• You should (finally) be at the search screen. I tested this from home successfully (on my Vista laptop using Firefox) on Feb 1st 2009.
  

You can use the content search screen with your preferred keywords. Alternatively, to search for a particular journal title, hover your mouse over 'Content Search' then click 'Publication search'. Paste or type the journal title in again and search. In the next screen click the link to your journal. Re-visit this Note for more help.
